Sarah Bradford (1684-) Mayflower Descendant

This is what I have learned about your Grandpa B. Rust’s 7th Great Grandmother Sarah BRADFORD and her ancestors. (Sarah BRADFORD is Aidan, Ashley and Haley’s 9th great grandmother. Governor William BRADFORD is their 12th great grandfather.)

First Generation in America

1. WILLIAM¹ BRADFORD, of MAYFLOWER fame, the first Governor of the Mayflower Colony in Massachusetts, “was born in Austerfield, England in March 1588 to WILLIAM BRADFORD and ALICE HANSON. His father died in 1591, and the infant child was then received into the home of his grandfather the first WILLIAM BRADFORD mentioned in this line. After the death of the latter in 1596, he was adopted into the family of his uncle, Robert Bradford, who resided in the little village of Scrooby, two miles from Austerfield, and near the estate of the Brewsters. A church was established on the Scrooby Manor by William Brewster as early as 1606.”¹He married in Amsterdam, Holland on 9 Dec 1613, first, DOROTHY MAY. He married in Massachusetts, second, ALICE (CARPENTER) SOUTHWORTH.

i. JOHN BRADFORD, He had NO ISSUE.

Children of William and Alice (Carpenter) Bradford:
ii. WILLIAM² BRADFORD, (William¹), born 17 Jun 1624; married ALICE RICHARDS.
  iii. MERCY BRADFORD, she married BENJAMIN VERMAGES of Boston on 15 Jun 1648.
   iv. JOSEPH BRADFORD, born 1630, m. JAEL HOBART, daughter of Rev. Peter Hobart of Hingham, Massachusetts on 25 May 1664.
