Frederick Hilton Paget (1898 – 1949)

Papa’s Great Uncle, Frederick Hilton Paget, (“Uncle Hick” to Brad’s Uncle Fred) was born at Hazel Hill, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia on 2 Sep 1898 and died in Trinity, California on 16 Sep 1949. He is buried at the Odd Fellows Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. He married, first, GLADYS (_____). He married, second, MURIEL (_____).

At the age of 17, almost 18, he enlisted and served from 12 August 1916 to 1919 as a Canadian Army soldier in World War One. One can only imagine the horrors he may have seen.

He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley on 17 Dec 1920 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. SEE: The Register 1920-1921 at Google Books.

In about 1940, when Papa’s Uncle Fred (Fredrick William Paget) was about 17 or so, Uncle Hick found him a summer job in the mountains with a surveying crew.
